In this challenging and rewarding role, you will utilize your comprehensive knowledge of biomedical equipment to maintain the vast realm of diagnostic and treatment equipment found in a modern hospital. Working with great independence, you will perform regular inspections, testing and repairs, as well as respond to stat calls for service in critical care areas.

This role is for an entry level Biomedical Technologist and will be focused on bed/stretcher corrective/preventative maintenance and ceiling lift maintenance as part of the role.

  • Completion of a recognized Biomedical Technology program coupled relevant experience in a hospital setting.
  • Eligible for certification by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and be certified within three (3) years from date of hire.
  • To be certified as a CBET (c) within three (3) years from date of hire.
  • To assist and facilitate the customer relationship between clinical staff and Biomedical Services for equipment service/management requirements.
  • To assist in the identification of practices necessary to enhance Biomedical Engineering practice with the goal of optimizing resource utilization and enhancing productivity.
  • To perform repair and maintenance on medical equipment which forms part of the inventory of a patient care program, and equipment belonging to other patient care programs as required, including:
  • trouble-shooting complex medical equipment such as critical life-support or one-of-a-kind equipment
  • problem solving regarding medical equipment performance issues
  • investigating reported hazards and alerts associated with  medical equipment
  • To be responsible for responding to requests for support during periods of clinical difficulty at the patient bedside.  Support can be technical or clinical in nature
  • Collaborate with other team members to optimize use of available resources
  • Support a customer-focused environment
  • To provide afterhours support to the sites by participating in an on-call rotation
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.

Work Schedule:

 

Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet needs of the department.

Participate in On-Call rotation when you have reached a sufficient knowledge base of OVH medical technologies.
