Life and Health Insurance Advisor
Duties and Responsibilities

Insurance Advisors use their knowledge of insurance policies and companies to recommend coverage to clients.
They possess strong analytical skills and have a deep understanding of financial planning.

Their duties and responsibilities include:

  • Analyze clients’ current insurance policies and suggest additions or changes
  • Customize insurance programs to suit individual clients
  • Explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans
  • Calculate premiums and establish payment methods
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals
  • Contact underwriters to submit forms for coverage, issue or change endorsements, and bind coverage
  • Monitor insurance claims to ensure they are settled equitably for both the client and the insurer
  • Seek out new clients and develop clientele by networking to find new customers and generate lists of prospective clients
  • Review and update the client’s insurance portfolio periodically

    Qualifications
  • Proven work experience as an Insurance Advisor or similar role
  • Familiarity with life and health insurance plans
  • Ability to work with computers and understand and interpret insurance data
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professionalism and a strong work ethic
  • Insurance license may be required
