Life and Health Insurance Advisor Duties and Responsibilities
Insurance Advisors use their knowledge of insurance policies and companies to recommend coverage to clients. They possess strong analytical skills and have a deep understanding of financial planning.
Their duties and responsibilities include:
Analyze clients’ current insurance policies and suggest additions or changes
Customize insurance programs to suit individual clients
Explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans
Calculate premiums and establish payment methods
Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals
Contact underwriters to submit forms for coverage, issue or change endorsements, and bind coverage
Monitor insurance claims to ensure they are settled equitably for both the client and the insurer
Seek out new clients and develop clientele by networking to find new customers and generate lists of prospective clients
Review and update the client’s insurance portfolio periodically
Qualifications
Proven work experience as an Insurance Advisor or similar role
Familiarity with life and health insurance plans
Ability to work with computers and understand and interpret insurance data
