Maintenance Technician – Injection Molding & Extrusion

Overview:
A leading plastics manufacturer is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support ongoing operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on extrusion and injection molding machinery. This hands-on role requires expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to ensure equipment uptime, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance on plastic extrusion and injection molding machinery

  • Maintain and repair injection molding equipment (Nissei, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Engel – both legacy and modern models)

  • Troubleshoot and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems used in production tools

  • Install, repair, and test motors, control systems, sensors, and VFDs

  • Support scheduled and emergency maintenance to minimize downtime

  • Engage OEM support and follow manufacturer recommendations when needed

  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to guide maintenance tasks

  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems and equipment service logs

  • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory; support parts procurement and planning

  • Troubleshoot basic control networks within the facility

  • Promote safety by participating in health and safety training sessions

  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required:

  • College diploma, degree, or certification in a technical or maintenance-related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with injection molding equipment

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems

  • Familiarity with schematics, technical documentation, and digital maintenance tools

  • Proficient in using computers for maintenance tracking and documentation

Preferred:

  • Certified Millwright (433A) and/or Electrician (442A)

  • Experience with extrusion equipment and multi-generation molding machines

  • Exposure to project management principles or maintenance planning tools
