Day-to-day oversight of the payroll function and the team.
Responsible for payroll accuracy and timeliness
Ensure 100% compliance with existing internal controls
Responsible for ensuring that all payroll processing controls, and narrative is kept up to date and accurate
Prepare payroll scorecard on key payroll metrics
Maintain good working relationships with internal and external business partners
Process timely and accurate garnishments
Review and approve reconciliations of payroll related balance sheet accounts and related journal entries
Continuously identify and develop solutions for process efficiency improvements to improve productivity
Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and provincial laws, ensure accurately and timely payroll federal and state related government and agency reporting including.
Manage payroll related audits
Requirements
Minimum 5-7 years of managing a Canadian multi-province payroll department. Multi provincial payroll will be highly regarded.
Working knowledge of payroll software platforms like Ceridian Day-force, ADP Workforce, Sage 50 etc.
Working knowledge of Kronos/Oracle R12 System for HR, Time / Labor and General Ledger
Excellent problem solving / judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Confidence and ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment
Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
Excellent organization skills, ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required
