As part of a nimble leadership team, you’ll play a critical role in product development, underwriting strategy, and organizational growth.
As the Product Director – Personal Lines Insurance, you will lead the strategic development and refinement of personal lines insurance products to ensure market competitiveness, broker satisfaction, and underwriting excellence. Your responsibilities will include:
Product Innovation & Market Analysis:
o Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and broker feedback to identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancement.
o Propose new products and improvements to existing offerings to meet evolving consumer and broker needs.
Product Development & Governance:
o Develop and maintain policy forms, endorsements, underwriting guidelines, and pricing strategies in close collaboration with the executive team.
o Ensure all product documentation meets compliance standards and reflects organizational goals and market expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Partner with internal teams including underwriting, technology, claims, compliance, and marketing to ensure smooth product rollouts and operational alignment.
o Act as a key stakeholder in product-related projects and system enhancements.
Training & Development:
o Design and deliver internal training initiatives to enhance underwriting capabilities and product understanding.
o Serve as a knowledge leader within the organization, supporting professional development across the team.
Leadership & Strategic Contribution:
o Contribute to the national leadership team by sharing insights, shaping strategic direction, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
o Take ownership of critical product initiatives that directly impact business performance and broker satisfaction.
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:
Education & Experience:
o Minimum of 10 years of experience in personal lines underwriting or product management within the Canadian insurance market.
o CIP/FCIP or equivalent insurance designation preferred.
Technical Skills:
o Deep knowledge of personal lines products and underwriting practices.
o Proficiency in insurance systems and tools; experience working within Insurtech environments is an asset.
