The hybrid role of Project Manager \ Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for the successful delivery of equipment projects as well as supporting engineering functions in manufacturing.  Project management time will be spent preparing materials, labour, and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a project according to proposals, plans, estimates, and item specifics.  Manufacturing initiatives include health and safety, continuous improvement, engineering, and capital projects.  The candidates time will be split equally between engineering and project management.  Successful candidates will need to manage multiple projects, ensuring that they are completed within time and cost constraints. As working in a team is an integral part of their job, the Project Manager must have good oral and written communication skills.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

Project Management

  • Define and estimate quotations, resources, and execution of assigned projects
  • Working with the Product Manager to ensure that customer’s unique needs are met
  • Acting as the project lead to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met
  • Providing direction and support to vendors to ensure that outsourced work is completed accurately
  • Ensure quality through following procedures and best practices
  • Able to work independently and both as part of a team

Manufacturing engineering

  • Execute capital project plans that support the facilities manufacturing operations
  • Find, develop, and complete continuous improvement projects that improve the sites safety, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Support manufacturing with engineering sketches and drawings
  • Update engineered drawings for revisions and correctness
  • Working Autodesk Vault to create and maintain parts and bills of materials

 

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Post-secondary education in the mechanical engineering field (Mechanical Engineer \ Technologist)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and/or Solidworks
  • Fluent in manufacturing, fabrication drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • SAP experience an asset
  • Experience in Pulp and Paper industry an asset
  • Above average time management skills
