Human Resources

Our mission is to increase the success rate of small businesses. Traditional banking has been a growth limiter rather than a growth enabler for business owners, and we’re changing that. Relay is the all-in-one, collaborative money management platform. We’re building for employer SMBs and their finance function, internal and external, and are focused on delivering a human-centric customer experience. Ultimately, we help SMBs be ‘on the money'.

As a Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading, growing, and transforming the Talent Acquisition function at Relay. You’ll manage a team of Talent Acquisition Partners and Talent Attractors (Sourcers+), coach for performance and delivery, and ensure we continually and predictably meet our ambitious hiring targets in 2026 and beyond.

Relay is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced, high growth, high impact environment. This role is best suited for a seasoned recruiter and people leader with a deep command of funnel metrics, an experimentation mindset, and a desire to grow and mentor a team that’s hungry to win. You’ll work closely with Talent Operations, Employer Branding, and People Business Partners to run milestone hiring initiatives, optimize our recruiting engine, and ensure we attract and hire top talent with speed, quality, and consistency. You will not carry a req load, but from time to time you may need to lean in and pick up a role or two to help the business achieve its goals.

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of recruiters, setting a high bar for quality and speed

  • Own team performance, development, and culture including hiring, compensation, growth, and exits

  • Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, experimentation, bias to action, and AI fluency

Strategy & Operations

  • Own the Talent Acquisition function, aligning closely with People, Talent Operations, and various department leaders to drive workforce planning and headcount forecasting

  • Translate business goals into scalable recruiting systems, tools, and workflows that increase speed, accuracy, and candidate experience

  • Embed AI into recruiting workflows to increase efficiency and quality of outcomes

Execution & Funnel Management

  • You don’t just use data, you start with it. Decisions, trade offs, and conversations with your team and stakeholders are anchored in metrics. You believe deeply that recruiting is only predictable and scalable when data is treated as the barometer for recruitment success

  • Monitor pipeline health, interview velocity, conversion rates, and hiring bar to ensure goals are met or exceeded

  • Champion a data-driven approach to decision-making, using metrics to proactively optimize the funnel and inform trade-offs

  • Occasionally lean in to run searches as needed, setting the standard for recruiting excellence

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders and hiring managers, balancing speed with quality to meet business needs

  • Partner with employer brand, talent operations, and People leadership to deliver milestone recruiting initiatives

  • Influence cross-functional programs related to onboarding, candidate experience, and hiring calibration

What Success Looks Like

  • Your team consistently hits hiring targets and builds exceptional, values-aligned teams.

  • Funnel health and recruiting operations continuously improve through experimentation and data

  • Hiring manager trust and candidate satisfaction are consistently high

  • You’re building and developing a bench of top talent on the team, setting yourself up for a future Director seat

You'll be held accountable to:

  • Team Quarterly Attainment: Consistently enabling the team to hit ambitious headcount targets (90%+ of roles deemed closeable through our scoring system should be closed on-time delivery)

  • Time to Fill: Driving funnel predictability and speed, measured by time-to-fill, conversion rates, and forecast accuracy

  • Quality of Hire: Raising quality of hire with a 90-day success rating of new hires ≥ 80%

  • Innovation & Experimentation: Embedding an experiment-driven culture in TA that constantly improves velocity and outcomes. 2-3 experiments per month run by each team member and by yourself

  • Data & Reporting: Weekly data reporting to the People Leadership Team on progress tracking & recruitment health

Who You Are

  • You have 3+ years of demonstrated success managing a recruiting team at a high-growth company, with a clear track record of delivering against high growth hiring plans

  • You have deep expertise in full-cycle recruiting best practices, hiring manager enablement, sourcing strategy, candidate experience, and funnel conversion metrics. Likely acquired through 5+ years of carrying your own req load

  • You’re passionate about coaching and mentoring. Knowing how to build recruiting craft and support growth & experimentation within the team, not just helping them fill roles.

  • You know how to influence and partner with senior leaders, pushing back and advising with confidence

  • You have a deep-seated belief in funnel data as the way to drive excellence. You instinctively ask ‘what do the numbers say?’ before making calls, and you expect your team to do the same

  • You’ve demonstrated innovation and creativity in using automation and AI tools to drive recruiting efficiency

  • You have a bias to action and show deep accountability for results. This team needs a hands-on leader who gets things done

  • You’re curiosity-fueled and have a first-principles approach to problem solving: you dig into root causes and design solutions that fit the business rather than relying on generic playbooks

The Interview Process

  • Stage 1: A 45-minute interview with a member of our Talent team

  • Stage 2: A 60-minute interview with a Director of People

  • Stage 3: A 45-minute values interview with a member of our leadership team

  • Stage 4: A 30-minute Q/A prep session, followed by a 60-minute presentation with members of our People team

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You

  • You push relentlessly for reinvention: You’re built to constantly ask, “How can this be better?” Change excites you and you drive it.

  • You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.

  • You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.

  • You treat comfort as a red flag: You seek growth. When things feel too comfortable, you lean into change. You’re excited about  stepping into the unknown and navigating new terrain to create something better alongside your team.

  • You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition and you let your work speak for itself.

  • You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.

  • You seek out feedback: We value directness, clarity, and respect. We believe honesty fuels great work and career growth. You see feedback as a tool for learning and improvement, and you know that open, honest dialogue is key to achieving the best results — together.

  • You’re here for more than a job: At Relay, everything we do is in service of our mission to help small businesses thrive. To drive impact and have purpose here, that mission must matter to you too.
