Description
As a Narrative Designer, you will help bring reactive storytelling to life by designing and implementing narrative systems and golden moments that drive emotional engagement in a first-person, story-driven action game. You will work at the intersection of level design, storytelling, and gameplay systems, integrating narrative elements directly into the world and creating dynamic content that adapts to player actions.

You are exactly who we need if you are passionate about interactive storytelling, systemic narrative design, and creating emotionally resonant moments that emerge through play.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of professional experience in Narrative Design, or Systems Design on AA/AAA PC or console titles.
  • Hands-on experience implementing in-world narrative content, such as story triggers, or golden moments.
  • Strong understanding of player-driven narrative, branching structures, and state-based storytelling.
  • Proficiency with scripting and logic tools, such as Unreal Blueprints or node-based narrative editors.
  • Ability to write and structure compelling short-form narrative content, such as bark trees or interactive events.
  • Familiarity with level pacing, narrative timing, and how to balance authored beats with player freedom.
  • Experienced in cross-disciplinary collaboration with Writers, Game Designers, Level Designers, Engineers, and Audio.
  • Comfortable navigating internal pipelines and maintaining consistent documentation.
  • Clear communication skills with a strong command of written English, especially when expressing narrative logic and design intent.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and iterate on narrative systems that drive player-facing storytelling through gameplay and world interaction.
  • Author and script golden moments — high-impact narrative scenes tied to specific player behaviours, locations, or progression triggers.
  • Collaborate with Level Designers/Encounter Designers to ensure narrative content is embedded seamlessly within gameplay spaces.
  • Use internal tools and scripting systems to build and manage story logic, and branching narrative structures.
  • Ensure reactive storytelling works across diverse player paths, world states, and systemic variables.
  • Contribute to maintaining clean, scalable content pipelines for narrative systems and events.
  • Drive and participate in narrative playtests, evaluating clarity, emotional impact, and pacing.
  • Maintain thorough and accessible documentation, including event maps, logic flowcharts, and system specifications.
Nice to Have
  • Passion for immersive sims, reactive world design, and branching storytelling.
  • Background in interactive fiction, scripting languages, or narrative prototyping tools.
  • Understanding of how story systems interact with AI behavior, combat pacing, or player choice loops.
  • Experience with debugging complex narrative logic and maintaining consistency across large systems.
  • A proactive mindset and desire to help shape tools, systems, and pipelines for scalable narrative delivery.
