Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailer, tri, and quad trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections on vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories (tires, lights, brakes, etc.).
  • Secure cargo in compliance with safety regulations, including transporting dangerous goods.
  • Communicate with dispatch, other drivers, and customers using on-board technology.
  • Perform minor on-site repairs when necessary.
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when required.
  • Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods as needed.
  • Operate specialized trucks such as tow trucks, dump trucks, hydrovac trucks, and cement mixers.
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Safely climb enter and exit truck multiple times a day to clean reach and inspect tires to ensure they are free of debris.
  • Safely climb in and out of box to clean it in all weather conditions.Β 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of construction safety standards and adhere to all regulations.

Requirements:

  • Class 1 License with a minimum of 5 years of gravel truck experience.
  • Willing and able to work out of town and night shifts as required by projects.
  • Available to work some Sundays as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of truck and work site safety regulations.
  • Comfortable using app-based platforms for Haul Cards and Safety Paperwork.
  • Capable of performing minor truck maintenance and repairs.
  • Able to operate supporting equipment such as packers, water trucks, shovels, and rakes.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Certifications such as H2S Alive and CPR/First Aid are assets.
  • Must reside in Calgary or surrounding areas.

Qualifications:

  • Must comply with KLS' zero-tolerance policy and complete pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and fit testing.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clean driving record and ability to provide a commercial driver’s abstract.
