The Payroll Benefits Administrator reports directly to the Director, Human Resources. Responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time for both Canada and US; administering the company benefit plans and assisting employees with work-related issues.
This role requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees.
Prepare and administer payrolls for all employees (Canada and U.S.), including new hires, changes, terminations to ensure accurate processing of bi-weekly hourly and salary payroll processing
Prepare journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with requirements.
Responsible for annual reconciliation and remittance of W2, Federal & State payroll tax returns (US), WSIB, & EHT
Perform year end duties such as setting up Tax Limits and Basic Exemptions, and adjusting and reconciling employee vacation, EI, CPP, etc.
Remit legislated required payments (Garnishees, WSIB).
Regular maintenance of HRIS system including new hires, terminations, and benefit changes.
Manage and administer benefit and other programs (i.e. health benefits, LTD, DPSP, RRSP plans enrollment etc.)
Generate and maintain standard operating procedures for various payroll processes Reconcile monthly billing related to employee benefit programs, and update employee’s files as required.
Implement salary increases, bonuses, and commissions as directed.
Adjudicate employee claims and administer the Health Care Spending Account.
Issue ad hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Assist employees on general problems related to employee benefits
Requirements
University Degree /College diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll administration, both hourly and salaried, Canadian and US.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and administering benefits
Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Payroll system (ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, Navision, Intuit).
Competent to format and draft correspondence, forms and reports.
CPA designation is an asset
