  • Develop a framework to perform simple and complex thermal analyses
  • Conduct thermodynamic analysis and simulations to optimize the performance of various systems within an electric powertrain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop thermal management systems for various aircraft components, including engines, heat exchangers, and cooling systems.
  • Define the Thermal Operating Envelope for the aircraft and establish the thermal zones as well as requirements for various systems.
  • Perform zonal temperature analysis for a series of scenarios including failure cases (ex.: analyze temperature in different of the nacelles where multiple high energy systems are integrated).
  • Integrate thermodynamic solutions into new and existing aircraft designs.
  • Perform detailed Thermal load analysis, heat transfer and fluid dynamics calculations.
  • Analyze and determine the inlet and exit flow conditions to optimize the performance and efficiency of thermal systems
  • Design and conduct experiments and tests to validate thermal models and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in thermodynamics and aerospace engineering.
  • Identify opportunities for improving thermal efficiency and reducing energy consumption through innovative design and engineering solutions
  • Work with Aerodynamics and Flight Sciences to determine the critical ice shapes required for each phase of flights per appendices C and O of the 14 CFR part 25.
  • Analyze and address the impact of various ice shapes on the various systems and components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Engineering in the aerospace industry
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics principles.
  • Experience with thermal management systems and heat exchangers.
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB & Simulink) for modeling & simulation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Part 25 certification requirements and airworthiness standards for transport category airplanes
