About the role
We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to join Uride’s growing product team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing intuitive, inclusive, and impactful user experiences across our web and mobile platforms. From initial research and wireframes to high-fidelity mockups and design systems, you’ll work cross-functionally to shape products that support riders, drivers, and our internal teams.
As Uride continues to scale across Canada and prepares for global expansion, this is a chance to make a real difference by designing for accessibility, simplicity, and functionality, especially in communities that have traditionally been underserved by technology.
What you'll do
- Design end-to-end user experiences for mobile and web apps, from concept to implementation.
- Translate business goals and user needs into wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs.
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless handoff and alignment.
- Contribute to and maintain our design system to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Iterate designs based on feedback, testing insights, and evolving product requirements.
- Advocate for accessibility, responsive design, and user-centric principles across all touchpoints.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related discipline)
- 4+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design, preferably within tech or start-up environments.
- Strong portfolio (Portfolio link needed) demonstrating user-centred design across mobile and web interfaces.
- Mastery of Figma for design prototyping and collaboration.
- Proficiency in other design and prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, or Sketch.
- Experience working within cross-functional product teams using agile methodologies.
- Strong understanding of design principles, interaction design, and visual hierarchy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in remote settings.
Nice to have
- Experience designing for transportation, marketplace, or mobile-first platforms.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS/React) to better collaborate with developers.
- Motion design or animation skills to bring interfaces to life
- Experience working on localisation or designing for diverse cultural and geographic user bases.
